Yes, Lone Star Medical Associates offers telemedicine appointments for patients who prefer to meet with their doctor virtually. This can be a convenient option for patients who have mobility issues, live far away from the office, or have busy schedules.
Yes! We are accepting new patients.
Please call our office to schedule at 972-777-6656. We will need your ID and Insurance information so we can verify that we are in-network with your insurance. You can also self-schedule from our website at: https://mylonestarmd.com. The links are listed on our home page.
Dr. Muzakeer Shaik is the primary physician at our office. Most days, he is in office and available to see patients. However, occasionally, there are days when we have our nurse practitioner, Drashti Patel, see the patients. Dr. Shaik and Ms. Patel work as a team and communicate closely. Dr. Shaik supervises and participates in all the visits. Therefore, it is likely that you will see the same doctor/nurse practitioner team at each visit. You may be scheduled with the nurse practitioner sometimes for simple follow up concerns. If you prefer not to be seen by our nurse practitioner, you can let the front office know when scheduling your appointment. We will do our best to make sure you are only seen by the doctor. Although, we think you will love the care and attention you receive from Ms. Patel.
It is very common for our office to have available appointments on the same day or next day.
Questions can be sent via email at mydoc@lonestarmd.org. However, if you would like to discuss abnormal test results or make changes to current medications, the doctor needs to discuss these matters in person. He will likely request that you schedule a follow-up appointment in those instances. A Telehealth visit can be scheduled if you are not able to come in the office for a visit.
Yes. Refill requests can be made through our Healow Patient Portal and App. You will receive instructions on how to use these when you book an appointment if you provide us with an email. The links for these are also available on our website at https://mylonestarmd.com.
Yes. If you have previously discussed the medication with the doctor and he agrees that you should continue taking it, then yes, we will honor the refill request. Sometimes patients forget to mention medications during their visit, so we do not have any record of it. Please bring a complete list of your medications to your first visit and there should not be a problem refilling prescription requests.
We try to keep wait-times as short as possible, both at the front desk and for the providers. The initial "new patient visit" requires more time in the waiting room because the patient signs our consents and fills out patient intake information on our kiosk. We recommend that you arrive 15-20 minutes prior to your appointment to complete the intake. This can also be done through our Healow App or Healow Patient Portal before the appointment. Once your intake is complete, our nurse will take you back to begin the appointment within a few minutes. Follow-up patients often wait 5-10 minutes maximum because the check in process is much easier.
Yes. Our office draws blood work on site. However, we have the ability to print out lab orders or send them electronically to Quest Labs or LabCorp. Some special tests require us to send the patient out for labs, but most routine tests can be done in our office.
When sending referrals to Specialists or other Health Care Agencies involved in your care, we also send the your most recent visit notes, including diagnoses and medication lists. The Specialist or Agency we refer you to will have all the info they need to contact us if they have any further question. You will also receive a notification through our Healow Patient Portal and App that the referral has been sent. We always strive to have good communications with our patients and specialists. If you ever have any problems in this area, please call us and we will address them right away.
